Ingersoll Rand 89295976 Air Filter Element

Genuine Ingersoll Rand 89295976 air filter element for small rotary screw compressors in the 4–22 kW range. Designed as the intake filter for R, UP, V, EW, and RM-C series machines, this element uses high-efficiency synthetic fiber media to block dust and particulate before it reaches the airend. Clean intake air protects rotors, bearings, and shaft seals, extending compressor service life and stabilizing specific power consumption.

Key Specifications

  • Part number: 89295976
  • Brand: Ingersoll Rand

Fitment and Compatibility

89295976 is a legacy common part covering a broad range of Ingersoll Rand small rotary screw compressors:

  • R series (belt drive): R4i, R5.5i, R5.5ie, R5.5n, R7.5i, R7.5n, R11i, R11n
  • RM-C series: RM15i-C, RM22i-C
  • UP series: UP5 11, UP5 15, UP5 18, UP5 22
  • V series (Auto): V15 Auto, V22 Auto
  • VSD series: VSD15, VSD22
  • EW series: EW5 22

Because this is a legacy design, some newer machines may use a different filter part number. Installation dimensions and interfaces can differ between generations. Provide the compressor serial number for exact matching and current availability confirmation.

Installation and Maintenance

  1. Lock out power and confirm the compressor has fully stopped.
  2. Open the filter housing cover by releasing the retaining nut or clips.
  3. Remove the old element and check the housing groove for any residual seal material.
  4. Clean the housing with a dry cloth. Do not reverse-blow a loaded element and reuse it.
  5. Inspect the new element for media damage, pleat deformation, cracked end caps, or aged seals.
  6. Install the new element onto the center stud, ensuring the seal seats evenly without skew.
  7. Refit the cover and tighten evenly to achieve a gap-free seal.
  8. Start up and check for air leaks at the intake and confirm normal operation.

Replace the element at 2,000–4,000 hours or 6–12 months in standard conditions, or at 1,000–2,000 hours in high-dust environments such as construction sites, mines, and woodworking shops. Replace immediately if the media is visibly darkened or heavily loaded, or if differential pressure reaches 600 Pa.

Why Intake Filtration Matters

A clogged intake filter reduces compressor capacity, raises specific power, and increases energy cost. Every 100 Pa of additional intake pressure loss adds roughly 0.5% to compressor specific power. If dust reaches the airend, rotor and bearing wear accelerates, shaft seals degrade, and oil carryover can rise — in severe cases leading to airend failure. Maintaining the correct 89295976 element protects the compressor's core and keeps discharge quality stable.
